Our mission is to reveal, prevent and alleviate human suffering and distress The underlying principle of the Red Cross is that human beings in their interaction hold a responsibility toward each other. By providing assistance we give help to individuals. Simultaneously we contribute towards achieving a safer society and a safer  world through the efforts of 414 local branches in Norway and through the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement with sister societies in 185 countries. The Red Cross is perceived as a global “public goods” by people all over the world.
